Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Book Cover Redesign

Diving into the psyche, exploring themes and emotions has been a strong influence for many of my projects, especially the posters and book covers. Designing book covers for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was a project that was originally assigned during my freshman year of college at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

I revisited this project and designed a set of three new posters for the book. The canvas for each book cover consists of a rectangular grid composed of half triangles, giving a geometric feel to each composition.

By playing with various typographic weights and vibrant color palettes, to forming buildings, layouts, and mazes onto the canvas, I explored the dynamic personas of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

The goal for each book cover was to represent the dichotomy between the two characters as well as allude to how they are one and the same.
